I Don't Like This Kinda Of Fishing!

One of the nice features I have liked about the last several versions of kde are the kioslaves that allow konqueror to do things like ssh into another computer.  Matter of fact, the fish:// protocol is probably one of my most used parts of kde.

However, it has been broken for several of the last releases of kde, including 3.5.6 - 3.5.8.  Some even say it is pointing to a kernel bug for kernels >= 2.6.20.  I can't remember if I was using a 2.6.20 series kernel way back when I was using kde 3.5.6.  However, many people have reported this bug and still nothing.
Here is the official kde bug with many different distributions reporting it:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145123

As with others reporting this, this bug seems to affect mostly 64 bit systems.  As with other distributions, both my gentoo and sabayon 64 bit systems work using the sftp:// protocol.

I have a lot of backtraces and have been working on finding the culprit for some time now.
